There are a multitude of ways to maximize productivity these days. Special tracking devices, productivity software and even old-fashioned pen-and-paper habit trackers can all be utilized to make the most of each day, but did you know that there are particular foods which can boost your productivity?
Berries
Berries are chock-full of antioxidants, which are a critical defense against oxidative stress — a major cause of brain aging and enemy of productivity. Some research demonstrates that the brain-protecting effects of berries are particularly potent in combination with a healthy fat, such as nuts or avocados. Try tossing a handful of berries over yogurt or oatmeal, or blitz them into a smoothie with other fruit and veggies (plus some nut milk or avocado, of course) or a perfect start to the day.
Eggs
Eggs contain a major brain-boosting vitamin called choline. Choline helps improve memory and alertness, and may even help decrease fatigue. Eggs are easy to prepare in hashes or omelets, but they can also be incorporated into sweet applications like French toast. If a scramble in the morning isn’t your thing, try making egg muffins or a frittata for lunch, or pack a couple of boiled eggs as an afternoon snack.
Green Tea
Green tea can also help give your productivity a little nudge. One study shows that green tea can improve working memory by enhancing your brain’s ability to make new connections. Since it has a lower caffeine content than coffee, it’s also less likely to give you the jitters while you’re sipping it. If you aren’t too keen on drinking it plain, try it as a swap for coffee in your morning latte, or stirred into a smoothie or juice drink.
Enhancing productivity can seem to be a challenging feat at times. Fortunately, with a little help from one (or all) of these brain-boosting superfoods, you’ll be well on your way to a rich, fruitful day.
